NPP Ashanti Regional chairmanship aspirant Odeneho Kwaku Appiah (COKA) says he remains confident of securing the mandate despite expected attacks ahead of Saturday’s election.
According to him, political attacks will not distract him from his campaign.
The NPP is set to elect its Ashanti Regional executives as the party prepares for the 2028 elections.
He dismissed what he describes as smear campaigns and internal political intrigues ahead of the party’s regional elections.
In a Facebook post on Tuesday, August 11,2026, COKA cautioned his supporters to expect intensified attacks and criticism as the election approaches.
He used a biblical reference to illustrate the nature of internal party politics, saying supporters should not be surprised if he is eventually blamed for things as far-reaching as the crucifixion of Jesus.
“By Saturday, don’t be surprised to hear that I was among those who ‘crucified Jesus’, such is internal politics,” he wrote.
Despite the expected attacks, COKA said he remained focused on his campaign and confident about his chances of winning the chairmanship.
“I remain focused and resolute. The mandate is clear: I am the next Ashanti Regional Chairman,” he declared.
The NPP is scheduled to elect its next Ashanti Regional executives on Saturday, August 15, with COKA among the aspirants seeking to lead the party in the region.
The election is taking place as the NPP works to reorganise and strengthen its grassroots structures ahead of the 2028 general elections.
COKA’s comments come amid heightened competition among aspirants, with the race expected to attract significant attention from party supporters across the Ashanti Region.
For COKA, the focus remains on securing the mandate despite what he considers attempts to distract him from his campaign.
