The Ghana Tourism Authority (GTA), in the Central Region has confiscated the keys to and temporarily shut down a hospitality establishment at Moree Junction in the Abura Asebu Kwamankese District.
The enforcement exercise took place on Monday 17th August 2026, during an unannounced visit to hotels and restaurants within the Moree community.
According to the GTA, Fredumens Hotel has been operating for many years without a license and in breach of various tourism regulatory requirements.
At the premises, the Chief Executive Officer of Fredumens Hotel and the GTA Regional Taskforce exchanged words, this led the taskforce to confiscate the hotel room keys and send them to the Regional Office of the Ghana Tourism Authority in Cape Coast.

In an exclusive interview with Onuanews reporter, the Regional Director of the GTA, Charles Buabin, said Fredumens Hotel has been operating in the hospitality industry without a license, providing poor services, and committing other regulatory breaches.
“This is the third time our taskforce has gone to close it. But this time around we have confiscated the room keys to let the Chief Executive Officer of the facility know that the GTA is serious.”
Director indicated that the two-day enforcement exercise has brought a number of hospitality facilities to book.
He commended the Elmina Beach Hotel for swiftly settling its debts owed to the Ghana Tourism Authority.
Mr. Buabin further sent a word of caution to chop bar and restaurant operators.
He said the Authority will soon embark on further enforcement exercises to close down unauthorized facilities operating without licenses ahead of the Oguaa Fetu Afahye.
