New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) Subin Constituency Executives in the Ashanti Region have declared their support for the re-election of the party’s General Secretary, Justin Kodua Frimpong, in the upcoming national officers’ elections.

The endorsement was made during Frimpong’s campaign engagement with constituency executives from the Kumasi enclave on Monday, August 17, 2026.

Subin Constituency Women’s Organiser Ama Konadu Boateng, speaking on behalf of the executives, promised what she described as “massive support” for Mr Frimpong’s bid to retain the position.

She pointed out that the decision was based on the executives’ assessment of his performance, leadership style and reforms since taking office.

“We know your works, we have tasted your humility, and your reforms have injected new life into the Party,” she stated.

Boateng also praised Frimpong’s handling of the party, saying he had demonstrated what she described as emotional intelligence at a difficult time for the NPP.

“We shall retain you as General Secretary, and nothing can change that,” she added.

She drew a comparison with her own experience as Subin Women’s Organiser, saying she was retained by constituents because they appreciated her work.

She argued that Frimpong deserved a similar opportunity to continue his work at the national level.

The endorsement has added political significance because Subin is the home constituency of Eugene Boakye Antwi, a former NPP Member of Parliament and one of the contenders for the General Secretary position.

The Subin executives, however, said the contest should be determined by candidates’ performance, leadership qualities and their ability to steer the party through its current challenges.

They credited Mr Frimpong’s tenure with strengthening the party’s grassroots structures and improving confidence among members.

The executives said the NPP needed an experienced General Secretary who understands its structures, can build consensus and maintain unity as the party prepares for the 2028 general election.

Frimpong is seeking another term as General Secretary as the NPP prepares for its national officers elections.

The party is currently undergoing a reorganisation following its defeat in the 2024 general election, with its national leadership expected to play a key role in rebuilding the party ahead of the next polls.
