Management of Ghana Premier League side Karela United FC has expressed surprise at the latest decision by FIFA to further impose a player registration ban on the club.

Management disclosed that it has been in constant engagement with the world’s football-governing body since the matter involving a former player came up.

“The club has been contesting the claims and has been engaging with FIFA’s relevant adjudicatory bodies on the matter,” it said in a statement on Tuesday, August 18.

“We are, therefore, surprised by the decision to impose a transfer ban at this time.”

The club revealed that its legal department is “working to bring the matter to a conclusion as soon as possible”.

It assured that further information on the issue will be made available.

FIFA through its disciplinary body had imposed a transfer ban on the club following the transfer of Guinea Sana Camara.

The Ghana Football Association (GFA) was enjoined to ensure that Karela United FC do not register any player both home or abroad.
