Former Energy Minister and New Patriotic Party National Chairman aspirant Boakye Agyarko has appealed to Ghanaians to renew their confidence in the NPP as the party begins efforts to reorganise and position itself for the 2028 general election.
Speaking after receiving nomination forms picked on his behalf for the National Chairmanship contest, Mr Agyarko said rebuilding the party would require not only stronger internal structures but also renewed public trust.
“My message to our party and to the people of Ghana is very simple, have confidence in us, give us your faith and your blessings and under providence all will be well,” he said on August 18.
His appeal comes as the NPP seeks to rebuild its political fortunes, with Mr Agyarko is insisting that the party’s current difficulties do not mark the end of its electoral prospects.
Mr Boakye Agyarko said Ghanaians are going through a period of hardship, but should expect better times ahead.
“After every hardship there is a period of ease. Indeed, after every hardship there is a period of ease,” he said.
He added that the hardship he is referring to is one currently being felt by Ghanaians.
“The people of Ghana are experiencing it. The assurance they should take from the NPP is that after this hardship there will be a period of peace,” Mr Agyarko stated.
The comments form part of a broader attempt by the former Energy Minister to present the NPP as a party capable of recovering from its own political setback while also regaining the confidence of the electorate.
