Ghana’s President, John Dramani Mahama, has called on leadership on the African continent to work towards asserting greater control over the region’s resources.

Mahama, speaking in an interview on TRT’s Bigger Than Five programme, urged the bloc to reshape its relationship with the world, transitioning from from an economic dependency towards greater self-reliance and influence on global decision-making.

While speaking on “Accra Reset” agenda, President Mahama said while he embraces partnerships for African nations, it shouldn’t be against their interests.

“We don’t reject partnerships, but those partnerships must be on our terms,” President Mahama said.
