A founding member of the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP), Dr Nyaho Nyaho-Tamakloe, has warned that the governing National Democratic Congress (NDC) risks being voted out if it fails to work hard and allows corruption to fester under its watch.

According to him, Ghanaians will not hesitate to punish the NDC if it engages in the same infractions that led to the defeat of the NPP.

Speaking on the state of governance with JB, host of Onua TV’s morning show, Maakye, in his house on Tuesday, September 8, 2026, Dr Nyaho-Tamakloe said the warning is not just for the NDC but for all Ghanaians.

“If the NDC fail to work hard, they will be defeated. And if they come out with infractions, that is what I want to warn them about,” he stated.

He cited what he described as the naked stealing of state resources under former Finance Minister, Kenneth Nana Yaw Ofori-Atta, whom he said has since run away, as an example of conduct that Ghanaians will not tolerate henceforth.

“This sort of naked stealing of state money like Ofori-Atta did and he has run away, if that happens amongst them, then they’re finished,” he warned.

Dr Nyaho-Tamakloe said the country has suffered enough and cannot afford to destroy the Fourth Republic through greed and bad governance, warning that a repetition of such mistake will cost the nation dearly.

“And this one must go to all Ghanaians. This country has suffered enough. If we are not careful and we destroy this Fourth Republic, there will be no other republic again,” he cautioned.

He further warned that Ghana risks falling into dictatorship if the current democratic dispensation is not protected. “If this country will fall in the hands of one person who will run it the way he wants to run it. Mark my words,” he added.
