President John Dramani Mahama is expected to cut sod in the coming weeks for the construction of three 160-bed Regional Referral Hospitals in the Oti, Savannah and Western North Regions.
The development forms part of government’s broader strategy to improve healthcare delivery and expand access to specialised medical services across the country.
The Minister for Government Communications, Felix Kwakye Ofosu, announced the plans in Facebook post on Tuesday, September 22 while sharing the design for the proposed facility in the Oti Region.
The three hospitals are expected to serve as referral facilities for residents in their respective regions, reducing the need for patients to travel to major urban centres for advanced healthcare.
The sod-cutting ceremonies are expected to mark the beginning of construction of the three regional referral hospitals.
