His Majesty’s Trade Commissioner (HMTC) for Africa, Alastair Long, is visiting Ghana for the first time since taking up his role, joining business leaders and policymakers at the annual UK-Ghana Trade and Investment Summit.
The visit coincides with a significant milestone for the UK Ghana Chamber of Commerce (UKGCC), which is celebrating ten years of promoting trade, investment and business partnerships between the United Kingdom and Ghana.
Alastair Long, His Majesty’s Trade Commissioner for Africa, said: “I am delighted to visit Ghana for the first time as His Majesty’s Trade Commissioner for Africa. Ghana is an important trade and investment partner for the UK, and I look forward to strengthening our commercial relationship further.”

His visit also underscores the value of strong institutional partnerships in translating the UK and Ghana’s shared trade ambitions into tangible opportunities for businesses. It also highlights the UK’s commitment to the UK-Ghana Growth Partnership, which provides a framework for strengthening economic cooperation, increasing investment and creating sustainable opportunities for businesses in both countries.
Alongside the Summit, HMTC will meet government leaders, British businesses and innovators, and participate in engagements aimed at strengthening trade, investment, innovation and economic cooperation between the UK and Ghana.
During his visit, he will also travel to Kumasi, where he is scheduled to pay a courtesy call on Daasebre Osei Bonsu II, Mamponghene, representing His Majesty Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, the Asantehene. He will also visit the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) to participate in the launch of the Ghana Photonics & Optics Laboratory, which received support from the UK Government.
As part of the visit, HMTC will meet with the Pro Vice-Chancellor of KNUST to discuss opportunities for strengthening UK-Ghana collaboration in research, innovation, skills development and investment.

The UK Ghana Business Summit plays a central role in this effort by connecting government and business leaders and turning shared ambitions into practical partnerships.
