The Member of Parliament for South Dayi, Nelson Rockson Etsey Dafeamekpor, has presented mattresses and chop boxes to 1,068 students who have just begun their senior high school education.
The initiative, according to the MP, is intended to ease the financial burden on parents and guardians while providing the beneficiaries who are burdened with the cost of items needed for their wards.
District Chief Executive for South Dayi, Courage Kwame Kokoroko who presented the items to the beneficiaries on behalf of the MP said the intervention is part of the MP’s commitment to supporting education across the constituency.
He said the support is particularly important for families struggling to purchase the items listed on the school prospectus.
“Some parents will find it difficult to get these items for their wards. The objective is to ensure that everyone who completes JHS enters Senior High School, acquires knowledge and becomes a responsible citizen,” he said.
He urged the beneficiaries to justify the support by concentrating on their studies and work towards achieving excellent academic results.
South Dayi District Director of Education, Prosper Yevu also described the intervention as timely, noting that reducing the cost of school supplies could help students begin their new academic journey with greater peace of mind.
