Over 3,000 police personnel have been deployed to provide security ahead of the New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) National Delegates Conference scheduled for Saturday, October 3,2026, at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium in Kumasi.
Chairperson of the NPP Organisation Committee, Anthony Abayifaa Karbo, who disclosed this, on Friday, October 2,2026, said the police will support traffic management, hostel security and arrangements within and around the stadium.
He said preparations are complete ahead of the conference, with delegates already arriving and being accommodated, while logistics including public address systems are being set up.
“We are very much ready for tomorrow. You can see we have gone round, we have seen police, we have seen arrangements so far. We are setting up our public address systems, delegates are arriving, they are getting into their hostels. We are ready,” Mr. Karbo said.
He praised aspirants for their cooperation since the beginning of preparations and expressed confidence that delegates will also comport themselves to ensure a successful event.
“I think the aspirants have been very cooperative from the start, from the get-go, they have been extremely cooperative. And I want to believe that same will apply to the delegates that are coming. Don’t forget that these delegates who are attending this event are experienced persons of the party, these are respected leadership of our party at the constituency level, so they will carry themselves well to make sure that things work out the best way,” he said.
On security arrangements, Mr. Karbo lauded the Inspector General of Police and the Ashanti Regional Police Command for their cooperation.
“Well, the IGP has been fantastic so far, his regional command has also been very cooperative with us and they have worked hard and they have deployed close to about three to four thousand police officers around to help with traffic management, provide security at the hostels where our guests are going to be, and also help us with security arrangements within the perimeter and also within the stadium,” he added.
The election of national executives is expected to be the focal point of the congress.
A total of 7,163 delegates are expected to cast their ballots. The Ashanti Region has the highest number of delegates, with 1,122, followed by Greater Accra and Eastern with 773 and 732 delegates respectively.
