The Talensi District Chief Executive (DCE), John Millim Nabwomya, has urged the youth in the District to develop a good sense of hygiene and keep their surroundings clean.

The DCE made the call during this month’s National Sanitation Day exercise in Tongo, where residents participated in cleaning various parts of the Tongo township, including the market and the lorry park.

Due to the importance of the exercise, the Upper East Regional Minister, Donatus Akamugri Atanga, together with some staff from the Upper East Regional Coordinating Council, joined the Talensi District Assembly to mark the day with rigorous cleaning of gutters, cutting of weeds, and disposal of waste.

The security services were not left out of the exercise, as well as students of the Bolgatanga Senior High School who participated in large numbers.

The Upper East Regional Minister, Donatus Akamugri Atanga, expressed satisfaction with the turnout for the exercise but reminded residents of their civic responsibility and patriotism in keeping every part of the district clean, adding that government will continue to provide logistics and support in the area of water and sanitation.

The exercise simultaneously took place at Pwalugu, Datuko, and Nungu, all in the Talensi District, as part of efforts to make the district a disease-free society.
