Owner and bankroller of King Faisal Football Club, Alhaji Karim Gruzah has bemoaned the cronyism, intimidation and victimization in Ghana’s football which undermines the growth of the sport in Ghana.

He told Asoreba Thunderh in an interview on the ‘Onua Maadwo‘ show on Onua FM that any member who dares to criticize the Kurt Okraku led Ghana Football Association (GFA) will eventually have his football club relegated.

“Even now Kotoko and Hearts Oak are afraid to speak up because they would be threatened with relegation” he said Monday, October 5, 2026.

Alhaji Grunzah also appealed to the Minister of Sports and Recreation, Kofi Adams to compel the leadership of the Ghana Football Association (GFA), and the Black Stars Management Committee to resign or dissolve the FA.

“Let them resign immediately before we play our next match. I am not a prophet but if they resign, Ghana will qualify inshallah. I plead with every Ghanaian to rise up and demonstrate against this FA” he appealed.

Grunsah stressed that there has not been any positive change in Ghana’s football for sometime except the growing arrogance, selfish interest, nepotism and cronyism.

“A player who is not being managed by the leaders of the football association will not get the chance to play for the Black Stars no matter how good the player may be. Where are the Under 17, Under 20, and Under 23 national teams since Kurt Okraku became the GFA president?” he quizzed.

Alhaji Grunzah’s impact in Ghanaian football is inconspicuous, and his firm commitment to truthfulness and his advocacy for transparency and accountability in the GFA is well known. Through his King Faisal Football Club, he has been a pivotal figure in the development of the sport from grassroots.
