The Community Water and Sanitation Agency (CWSA) has been ordered to recover more than GH¢300,000 owed it by 72 police stations and posts across the country.

The order came from the Public Accounts Committee (PAC) of Parliament during its sitting on October 8. The debt is from water supplied to the police facilities which has not been paid for.

Chairperson of the PAC Chair, Abena Osei-Asare, expressed disappointment with the CWSA for not informing the police administration over the debt owe it over the years, and sitting aloof for it to pile up over the period.

She told the agency to go directly to the IGP for the money, instead of embarrassing the Service.

“You think the IGP would be happy that 72 police posts or police stations owe just GH¢300,000? If you go to him today, he will write a cheque for you,” she said.

“GH¢300,000 for 72 posts and this is how you want to embarrass the police? That 72 of their outfits owe GH¢300,000 to Community Water. You better go to the IGP and collect the money.”

She warned that unpaid bills by state institutions affect the operations of the CWSA.
