President John Dramani Mahama has assured that his administration will continue to provide the enabling environment, financing and infrastructure needed to help Ghanaian businesses grow and compete.
Speaking at the commissioning of an expanded evaporated milk production line at Nestlé Ghana Limited on Thursday, October 8, President Mahama said the government recognised the important role of local businesses in Ghana’s economic development.
“My administration will continue to provide the enabling environment, the financing and infrastructure that Ghanaian businesses also need to rise,” he said.
He said the government was also reforming customs procedures to make them simpler, while revising the tax incentive framework and digitising public services to make doing business in Ghana faster, simpler and more predictable.
President Mahama cited Nestlé’s growth in Ghana as an example of the opportunities available to businesses, noting that the company started as a trading company before growing into a major enterprise.
The President urged Nestlé Ghana to continue deepening its relationships with Ghanaian farmers and suppliers and creating opportunities for young people.
He described the expanded production facility as a demonstration of what could be achieved through partnership between businesses and the country.
“This plant is a monument to what partnership, purpose and patriotism can achieve together,” President Mahama said.
He further assured the investment community that Ghana remained open for business, declaring that the country was “back” and “working again.”
President Mahama subsequently formally commissioned the expanded evaporated milk production line at Nestlé Ghana Limited.
The new production line will increase annual production capacity from about 12,960 tonnes to nearly 30,000 tonnes.
He said the investment reflects growing confidence in Ghana and supports his government’s 24-Hour Economy agenda.
