A 30-year-old farmer, Emmanuel Kwofie, has been sentenced to three months’ imprisonment with hard labour for assaulting his wife in an incident that went viral on social media.
The Agona Nkwanta District Police Command secured the conviction on Wednesday, October 14, 2026, after Kwofie pleaded guilty to the assault charge before the Agona Nkwanta District Court.
Police investigations established that Kwofie and his wife, Diana Mensah, a second-hand clothing dealer, lived together at Domeabra in the Agona Nkwanta Municipality.
On October 8, 2026, Kwofie allegedly accused his wife of having an extramarital affair and subjected her to severe beating, an incident captured in a video that later circulated widely on social media.
He was arrested on October 12 and subsequently arraigned before the court on October 14.
The case was presided over by His Worship Kuma Selorm Dzata, who convicted Kwofie on his own plea and sentenced him to three months in prison with hard labour.
