The Ashanti South Regional Police Command says calm has been restored at Manso-Nseina in the Ashanti Region following a shooting incident that left one person dead and a police officer injured.
The incident occurred on Friday, October 16, 2026, during a confrontation between a police team and some youth in the community.
According to a police statement on Friday, preliminary investigations indicate that a mob attacked the officers and demanded the release of a suspect who had been arrested for a narcotics-related offence.
One person was shot during the incident, while a police officer sustained injuries.
The deceased’s body has been deposited at the morgue for preservation and autopsy, while the injured officer is receiving medical attention.
The Ashanti South Regional Commander and a team of officers visited the scene and engaged community leaders following the incident.
The police say security has since been intensified in the community as investigations continue.
