The University of Ghana has announced its reopening schedule for the 2026/2027 academic year, with students expected to begin reporting to their halls of residence from October 19, 2026.
In a notice issued on Friday, October 16, Management said the Business and Executive Committee had approved the schedule at a meeting held on the same day.
Under the arrangements, random allocation of beds is scheduled for October 16, while students are expected to report to their halls of residence from October 19.
Orientation for freshers will take place from October 21 to 23, with lectures scheduled to begin on October 26, 2026.
Management has urged students to pay the required fees and complete their academic registration online as soon as possible through the University’s STS or DiGradsys portal, using the prescribed procedures.
The University said compliance with the registration requirements would help facilitate a smooth reopening and the commencement of lectures.
Management thanked students for their cooperation and understanding.
The notice was signed by Professor Gordon A. Awandare, Pro Vice-Chancellor for Academic and Student Affairs.
The Ghana Association of University Administrators (GAUA) and the Technical University Senior Administrators Association of Ghana (TUSAAG) have suspended their month-long strike following government’s resolution of about 80 per cent of their grievances.
The two Associations have directed their members to resume work on Monday, October 19, 2026, following engagements with the Ministry of Education, the Ministry of Finance and other relevant government institutions.
The strike, which began on August 10, disrupted administrative activities across public universities and technical universities, with earlier attempts to resolve the impasse proving unsuccessful.
