Finance Minister, Dr Cassiel Ato Baah Forson, is confident Ghana will grow beyond the International Monetary Fund’s (IMF) revised growth projection of 5.7% for 2026.
The forecast is an upward revisi on from 4.6% in April, representing an increase of 1.1 percentage points.
Dr Forson, at a meeting with the Director of the IMF’s African Department, Zeine Zeidane, on the sidelines of the IMF-World Bank Annual Meetings in Bangkok, Thailand, on Wednesday, October 15, expressed optimism over the country’s economic outlook for the year.
He said government is confident of surpassing the upgraded projection while remaining committed to fiscal discipline and reforms driving the economic recovery.
“The IMF has upgraded Ghana’s 2026 growth forecast from 4.6% to 5.7%. We are confident we will exceed that projection,” he stated.
He also reaffirmed government’s commitment to fiscal credibility and bold reforms underpinning the turnaround.
“In Bangkok, I met with the IMF’s African Department Director, Zeine Zeidane, and reaffirmed our commitment to the fiscal credibility, discipline and bold reforms powering Ghana’s economic turnaround,” he added.
