Dr Angsongna B. Claudius, popularly known as Dr ABC, on Wednesday, October 14, 2026, filed his nomination to contest for the position of Deputy Regional Secretary of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) in the Upper West Region, promising scholarships for 44 youth, job opportunities and improved party structures.

He said his ambition was to reorganise the party at the grassroots and mobilise members towards retaining political power in the 2028 general elections.

Speaking after filing his nomination, Dr ABC said he would support at least one person from each of the region’s 11 constituencies annually to access tertiary education, benefiting 44 people over his proposed four-year term.

The scholarship scheme, he said, would cover first-degree, master’s and PhD programmes. He explained that his commitment was informed by his experience as a scholarship beneficiary and his efforts to help colleagues secure financial support for their education.

Dr ABC also pledged to equip NDC constituency offices with printers, scanners, photocopiers, internet access and refrigerators, transforming them into functional secretariats that would serve both party members and surrounding communities.

He said the initiative would also create employment opportunities for young people to manage the facilities, stressing that party leadership must go beyond mobilising supporters for rallies to improving their livelihoods.

The aspirant further promised to lobby for jobs for qualified youth, drawing on his experience helping colleagues secure employment.

To justify his candidature, Dr ABC cited his experience as a District Director of Veterinary Services and president of the Graduate Students Association of Ghana (GRASAG) at both the University for Development Studies (UDS) and the University of Ghana.

He described his leadership at the two universities, alongside his service on the University of Ghana Council and as an NDC student executive at the UDS Nyankpala campus, as evidence of his ability to lead diverse groups and work with experienced professionals.

He said these experiences had prepared him to support the effective administration of the party and work with people of different backgrounds.

Dr ABC also rejected factional politics, pledging to work with whoever emerges as the NDC Regional Secretary, regardless of political alignments within the party.

“I am ready to work with anybody who happens to be the regional secretary, and I am not going to be like I am aligned with any group,” he said.

He urged aspirants to campaign on their policies and allow delegates to decide, insisting that unity after the internal elections would be crucial to the party’s success.

He said his priorities were to strengthen grassroots mobilisation, improve the party’s organisational structures, expand educational opportunities and create jobs for the youth to help the NDC prepare for the 2028 elections.
