The Member of Parliament for Ho Central, Edem Kpotosu, has donated 10 double beds to Ziavi Senior High Technical School to help address a shortage that has forced some students to sleep on the floor.

The donation, which provides sleeping space for 20 students, followed an appeal from the school.

Mr Kpotosu described the gesture as an initial contribution and indicated his intention to provide more support over time.

Receiving the donation, the Assistant Headmaster in charge of Administration, W. K. Yevutse, said the beds would improve conditions for students across the school’s dormitories.

“Before, some students had to sleep on the floor, but with these beds, at least 20 students will now sleep comfortably,” he said.

Mr Yevutse expressed hope that improved sleeping conditions would help students rest properly and contribute to better academic performance.

Speaking during the presentation, Mr Kpotosu also called for greater public understanding of the role of Members of Parliament.

He identified legislation, oversight and representation as the three core responsibilities of MPs, explaining that representation includes lobbying for resources and development projects for constituents.

According to him, MPs should not be viewed as development officers expected to directly undertake every infrastructure project.

He said lobbying remains an important means through which parliamentarians can help address development needs in their constituencies.
