The Member of Parliament for Nadowli-Kaleo Constituency in the Upper West Region, Anthony Mwinkaara Sumah, says about GH¢2.44 million has been invested in development projects and programmes in the constituency between January 2025 and September 2026.

According to a statement presented at a press conference by the Constituency Communications Officer, Biekpe Sylvester, on Wednesday, October 21, 2026, he said the amount supported interventions in education, healthcare, road maintenance, rural electrification, sports, and community development.

The 23-page statement also highlighted development projection of President John Mahama’s administration, with contributions from the MP, the Speaker of Parliament, the District Assembly and other stakeholders.

Touching on Education, he said it remains one of the major areas of investment, with GH¢418,821 paid to 158 tertiary students through the TESS Fund, while another 183 students have been placed on GETFund scholarships.

The statement further indicated that GH¢700,711 had been spent on other education-related interventions, including school infrastructure, desks, administrative support and educational competitions.

It also noted that more than 16,000 schoolchildren received free school uniforms through the collaborative efforts of the MP and the Speaker of Parliament.

In healthcare, GH¢594,370.93 has been spent on projects and programmes, including maternity facilities, medical assistance for constituents in distress, and health screening initiatives.

The statement said GH¢193,798 had been spent on road improvement and maintenance activities through the District Road Improvement Programme (DRIP).

Several communities have benefited from road reshaping and clearing, while additional roads have been created through partnerships involving the District Assembly and local communities.

On electricity, GH¢212,403 has been invested in rural electrification interventions, including extensions to selected communities, the distribution of more than 150 streetlights and the provision of over 50 electricity poles to support community-led extension works.

Water interventions include the drilling and installation of manual pumps for 20 boreholes, additional boreholes secured for selected communities, repairs to existing facilities and support for small-town water systems.

The statement also outlined several projects and national programmes benefiting Nadowli-Kaleo under the John Mahama led administration.

These include dormitories and other facilities at Sombo Senior High School and Takpo Senior High School, a library and ICT block at Kaleo Senior High School, classroom blocks, toilet facilities, markets, CHPS compounds and boreholes.

Other interventions include the Gbankor astroturf, agricultural support through the distribution of more than 2,500 bags of fertiliser under the Feed Ghana programme, and financial assistance to vulnerable households under the Livelihood Empowerment Against Poverty (LEAP) programme.

Despite the interventions, the communication officer acknowledged that Nadowli-Kaleo continues to face development challenges, including poor feeder roads, limited electricity coverage, inadequate healthcare infrastructure, unemployment and weak telecommunications connectivity in some communities.

He called on President John Dramani Mahama and relevant government institutions to increase investment in roads, healthcare, education, water, electricity, agriculture, employment and digital connectivity.

The 23-page statement commended former and current representatives, traditional authorities, the District Assembly, development partners and community leaders for their contributions to the constituency’s development.

It stressed that development remains a continuous process requiring sustained collaboration and further investment to meet the changing needs of residents.
