Three people have reportedly been picked up by police stationed at the Wa Central NDC voting center for allegedly taking photographs of their ballot papers while voting in the ongoing National Democratic Congress (NDC) constituency elections at Wa Technical Institute.

The exercise also encountered delays in parts of the Upper West Region following concerns over ballot papers without serial numbers, resulting in a temporary suspension of the process, including at the Wa West Constituency voting centre.

Despite the initial challenges, voting in Wa Central had been proceeding smoothly as of the time of filing this report, with security tightened at the centre.

The constituency has an initial register of 1,988 delegates, but 15 are said to have resigned while five have died, leaving 1,968 eligible voters.

A total of 77 aspirants are contesting 17 executive positions. Elections for the women organiser and youth organiser positions, involving five aspirants, have been completed, while voting for the remaining positions is ongoing.

The youth and women’s wings account for 218 delegates on the register.
