Four journalists from Media General have earned recognition at the 2026 Ashanti Regional Ghana Journalists Association (GJA) Media Excellence Awards, recording notable achievements across education, agriculture, community impact and sports journalism.
The journalists, who work across Akoma FM, Onua TV, TV3 and 3Sports, were among the media professionals shortlisted for the awards, which recognise outstanding journalistic work produced in 2025.
At the awards ceremony held on Saturday, October 24, 2026, Oscar Kwadwo Antwi Boasiako won the Best in Education Journalism category, earning recognition for his work in education reporting.
Ibrahim Abubakar also secured two podium finishes, placing third in Agriculture Journalism and second in Community Impact Journalism.
Kwame equally distinguished himself in the Community Impact Journalism category, finishing third.
Emmanuel Owusu was named Best in Sports Journalism, securing the top honour in a category that recognises excellence in sports reporting.
The achievements underscore the contributions of Media General journalists to reporting on issues affecting communities, education, agriculture and sports across the Ashanti Region.
The 2026 Ashanti GJA Media Excellence Awards brought together journalists from several media organisations to celebrate professional excellence and impactful storytelling.
The awards were held under the theme, “Celebrating Excellence, Championing Credibility: Journalism in the Age of AI,” highlighting the importance of credibility and quality journalism in a rapidly evolving media landscape.
The recognition adds to Media General’s representation among journalists honoured for their work in the region, reinforcing the role of its platforms in covering a broad range of public-interest issues.
The Ashanti Regional GJA Media Excellence Awards recognise journalistic works produced in 2025 across categories including education, agriculture, community impact, health, business and economy, entertainment, environment, science and climate, photojournalism, sports and best feature production.
