Johnson Asiedu Nketia, the National Chairman of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), has commended party members for the peaceful conduct of the constituency executive elections held across the country.
He avers the elections, which were held across 276 constituencies, have renewed the party’s base at the grassroots level ahead of the 2028 general elections.
In a post on X on Sunday, October 25, 2026, Asiedu Nketia congratulated the newly elected executives and urged them to serve the party diligently at the level where it matters most.
“The elections to choose our constituency executives have been held across the country. Congratulations to us all on the outcome and the manner in which it was achieved,” he stated.
“To all who were elected, I extend my warm congratulations. You have been entrusted with the care of the Party at the level where it matters most, and I am confident you will serve them well,” he added.
Asiedu Nketia commended all the candidates for the discipline of their campaigns and party members for the restraint and maturity they showed throughout the process.
He also thanked the electoral committees, regional and constituency officers, and everyone who worked to ensure the process was open, orderly and peaceful.
On those who contested but were unsuccessful, Asiedu Nketia urged them to remain fully engaged in party activities, arguing that their contribution remains necessary.
“To those who contested and were not successful, I urge you to remain fully engaged. The party has been strengthened time and again by members who accepted a result and continued to serve. Your contribution remains necessary,” he argues.
He said the work of organising, listening to members, protecting the ideals of the party and the legacy of President John Dramani Mahama has now begun.
Reports from many centres described largely peaceful polls, managed by the Electoral Commission and observed by party faithful.
In some constituencies, all executive positions went unopposed, signalling either a remarkable level of internal consensus or a closure of space where local oligarchies have become entrenched.
In Ketu South, Ahorlu Ferguson Kwabla emerged victorious with 946 votes in a four-way race. In Odododiodio, incumbent Chairman Paul Oblie Laryea was re-elected, while in Tamale North, Nayi Alhassan retained his chairmanship with 518 votes.
Rashid Tanko-Computer, the Deputy Director of Elections of the NDC, has emphasised that institutional channels were available for addressing any disputes arising from the elections.
He said any aggrieved persons should use the laid down procedures to seek redress.
