An 81-year-old woman has reportedly died following a bee attack at Achiase in the Atwima Nwabiagya North District of the Ashanti Region.
The deceased, identified as Nana Afia Achiaa, was attacked by a swarm of bees on Wednesday, October 28, 2026.
Speaking on Ghanakoma morning show on Akoma 87.9FM in Kumasi with Sir John, on Thursday, October 29, 2026, a citizen journalist, Kwame Wiredu, stated that, the bees attacked the deceased during the invasion.
He told Sir John the swarm of bees has been in the Achiase community for about a year, and they are always disturbing the people of Achiase.
He said the disaster happened between 5:30 pm and 6:00 pm on Wednesday, October 28, 2026, while the woman was staying in the Achiase palace and decided to come outside on the street for conversations.
He said nobody could go to her rescue immediately, but after some time they rushed her to a nearby hospital where she was confirmed dead.
The residents were forced to repel the attacks using insecticide spray before rushing her to the hospital.
Report say this is not the first time such an incident happened at Achiase.
In 2025, a similar incident occured, where the community leaders performed rituals to appease the local deities following a disturbing incident in which a swarm of bees terrorised residents.
Dozens of people suffered attacks during that period.
“We were told the bees at that time attacked residents for three days, forcing many to stay indoor and disrupting daily life,” he said.
