The Ejisu Traditional Council is set to organise a festival in honour of one of Ghana’s most iconic leaders, Yaa Asantewaa, who served as the Queen Mother of Ejisu.
According to the Traditional Council, the festival seeks to uphold and preserve Asante cultural practices and the story of the late Queen, Nana Yaa Asantewaa.
The festival is also aimed at facilitating the development of the Yaa Asantewaa Museum, which has stalled over the years.
Addressing the media at a press conference on Tuesday, the Queen Mother of Ejisu, Nana Yaa Asantewaa II, disclosed the programme line-up for the celebration.
She announced that the festival will commence on 24th December with a health walk.
She added that the event will continue with a cooking competition for groups on the second day.
According to the Queen Mother, the Traditional Council will hold a grand durbar on 26th December, where stakeholders will meet and pay homage to the overlord of Ejisu.
She revealed that the festival will officially end with an electrifying performance from renowned music icon Amerado.
She called on indigenes of Ejisu, both home and abroad, as well as the general public, to participate fully in the celebration.
The festival will not only celebrate the bravery and legacy of Yaa Asantewaa but also promote tourism and development in the Ejisu enclave.
