The National Democratic Congress (NDC) has outlined guidelines for its forthcoming regional elections, including a strict prohibition on proxy voting and security arrangements at polling centres.

In a statement signed by the party’s General Secretary, Fifi Fiavi Kwetey, the NDC said all eligible delegates must be physically present to cast their ballots, as no proxy voting would be permitted.

“There shall be no proxy voting. Every eligible delegate must be physically present to cast his or her vote,” the party indicated.

The party said delegates would be required to present any one of three approved forms of identification for validation: a valid NDC party identification card, an official accreditation document or an embossed photograph captured in the approved voters’ register.

Voting is scheduled to begin at 7:00 a.m. and close at 4:00 p.m. However, delegates who are already in the queue by the closing time will be allowed to cast their ballots.

On security, the party said the Ghana Police Service would have sole responsibility for maintaining security at all election centres.

It added that personal security details accompanying government officials or other individuals would not be allowed within designated voting areas.

The NDC urged aspirants, delegates, supporters and election officials to comply fully with these guidelines and conduct themselves with discipline, restraint and responsibility.

“All stakeholders are encouraged to work together to ensure peaceful, credible and transparent elections that uphold the democratic values and unity of the Party,” the statement concluded.
