The National Women’s Organiser of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Mavis Hawa Koomson, has given the government until the end of November to take concrete action over the alleged sexual abuse of students at Obuasi Senior High Technical School.

She says the NPP Women’s Wing will petiti on President John Dramani Mahama, Vice President Prof. Jane Naana Opoku-Agyemang, the Ministry of Gender and the Obuasi Municipal Chief Executive to demand justice for the affected girls.

Speaking on GhanAkoma, hosted by Sir John, on Friday, November 6, during the NPP Women’s Wing demonstration in Obuasi, Madam Koomson warned that the group would take further action if the authorities failed to respond to their concerns by the end of November.

She stressed that the group would not relent in its pursuit of justice for the victims.

“We are seeking justice for our girls. If we fail to secure justice for them, they will never forgive us,” she stated.

Madam Koomson also questioned why the headmaster remained free while teachers reportedly implicated in the case had been remanded for two weeks.

“If the teachers involved in the case have been remanded for two weeks, why is the headmaster still walking freely? The law must act swiftly. Interdiction alone is not enough,” she said.

The NPP Women’s Organiser maintained that the interdiction of the headmaster was insufficient, insisting that the authorities must take further steps to ensure accountability.

The alleged sexual abuse case involving students of Obuasi Senior High Technical School has generated public concern, with calls for a thorough investigation and justice for the affected girls.
