The Ghana Police Service has arrested two suspects following a viral video showing them physically abusing a young girl at Agona Jamasi in the Ashanti Region.
After the video emerged on social media, swift investigations led to the arrests of Grace Mensah, 75 and Godfred Osei Akoto, the man seen in the video unleashing beatings to the child.
According to a statement from the Police on December 16, 2025, investigations revealed that on December 6, 2025 the victim, an 11-year-old girl repeatedly went out and did not return home.
Her grandmother, Grace Mensah the authorized Osei Akoto to beat the young girl as punishment for not returning home.
The suspect, Osei Akoto told police that he had been authorized by the grandmother to physically assault the young girl.
The victim has since been rescued by the police while both suspects have been handed over to the Mampong Regional Domestic Violence and Victim Support Unit for further investigations.
The Police reiterated its firm commitment to protecting children and dealing decisively with all forms of abuse.
