What begun as a social media campaign today turned into a demonstration in the Oforikrom constituency.

Some concerned constituents embarked on a protest match against what they call “lack of development in the Oforikrom constituency.”

Participants held placcards summarising issues bedeviling the over two hundred thousand constituents.

“When we protested against the Municipal authority over the broken pedestrian bridge linking Anloga to Sisakyi, suburbs of Oforikrom, residents in the two communities made several calls to the municipal authority to fix the bridge but all fell on deaf ears,” Jerry James Sukah, a convener told OnuaOnline.

The demonstrators also want the “non-functional” traffic light linking Anloga Junction and Susuanso fixed.

Police quell clashes

The police in the course of the demonstration needed a swift response to quell clashes between the demonstrators and a pro-NPP group whose cleanup exercise coincided with the demonstration.

Two of such incidents happened at Oforikrom and Susuanso.
