The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has said it remains focused on safeguarding the welfare and dignity of all Ghanaians.

On Monday, February 2, the Minister for Foreign Affairs,  Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, arrived in Latvia for a two-day Official Visit.

He was accompanied by a six-member delegation comprising senior Directors of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, a forensic expert and a pathologist.

The fulcrum of the visit is to seek justice for the late Nana Agyei Ahyia, a Ghanaian student who was studying at Riga Technical University.

The Honourable Minister held a meeting with his Latvian counterpart, Her Excellency Baiba Braže on 2nd February, 2026 where the latter assured of the full cooperation of the Government of Latvia in the pursuit of truth and justice for the deceased.

The Honourable Minister and his delegation are expected to meet with other Latvian authorities including the Ministries of the Interior, Education and Science as well as investigators tasked with investigating the case.
