The Member of Parliament for Ablekuma West, Ursula Owusu-Ekuful, has condemned some media reportage which suggests her camp sought to induce voters by distributing food to them.
According to her, it was her polling agents they were distributing the said food to, with members of the NDC alleging the food had been stacked with something and caused a scene.
Speaking with TV3’s Portia Gabor in a live interview on Onua TV, she explained the reports being carried by some online portals that they were attempting to induce voters in the queue is untrue.
“…and the NDC were insisting that we had stacked the food packs with something and so they created a scene there. And I’ve read online portals that carrying it as if the voters there were hooting at food that we were sending to people in the queue, that is grossly inaccurate,” she stated.
Madam Owusu-Ekuful added that “I’ll be grateful if you can take the trouble to at least ascertain exactly what’s going on.”
She said it is not everyone in the constituency that will vote for her so it is possible her opponents may instigate their supporters to create a scene to put him in bad light.
She urged the media to be circumspect with their reportage to ensure they report what is actually happening on the grounds rather than putting false information on the airwaves.
