The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has announced the temporary closure of the Accra International Conference Centre (AICC) to allow for renovation works.
In a public announcement issued on March 27, 2026, the Ministry said the closure takes immediate effect and is necessary to facilitate scheduled upgrades aimed at improving safety and ensuring the long-term functionality of the facility.
The Ministry explained that the renovation forms part of efforts to maintain the conference centre’s standards as a premier venue for national and international events.
Authorities indicated that the reopening date will be communicated to the public in due course, once renovation works are completed.
The Ministry apologised for any inconvenience caused by the temporary shutdown and urged the public to bear with the decision, which it described as essential for delivering improved services.
It also reaffirmed its commitment to providing quality public service and maintaining key national infrastructure.
