At Tetegu on the Accra – Kasoa highway in the Greater Accra region, a commercial motor rider, a.k.a. ‘okada’, has died in a hit-and-run crash with a commercial bus, locally referred to as ‘trotro’.

Reports indicate the speeding bus rammed into the motorcycle which had a pillion around 6 p.m. on Wednesday, September 17, 2025.

The rider died instantly, while the pillion survived, sustaining severe injuries. Eyewitnesses indicate the trotro driver sped off the scene after the incident, despite witnessing what occurred with a casualty.

Police later conveyed the body of the deceased to the mortuary, while the injured passenger was taken to the hospital for treatment.

The deceased, who operated his motorcycle transport business at Old Barrier along the Kasoa road, was described by colleagues as hard-working.

News of his sudden death has left fellow riders at Old Barrier in shock, as they mourn what they say was an avoidable tragedy caused by the recklessness of a hit-and-run driver.
