The Nzalang Nacional were already guaranteed a place in the next round, having drawn 1-1 with the Super Eagles of Nigeria in their first game and beaten Guinea-Bissau 4-2 in their second game.
But after a 2-0 opening day win, the hosts faltered in their second game, losing 1-0 to Nigeria.
But Monday’s results was not seen coming for connoisseurs of the game given the pedigree of both sides.
The Guineans shut out the Elephants at their own backyard.
They qualify to the Round of 16 as leaders of Group A with Nigeria, who beat Guinea-Bissau 1-0 in the other game played concurrently, coming second.
