It’s going to be a repeat of the second Group A game in the final of the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations as La Côte d’Ivoire come face-to-face with Nigeria again.

The two won their respective semi-final clashes on Wednesday to make it to the final on Sunday.

The Elephants, playing in front of their vociferous fans, got the needed boon to break a steeled Congolese defence courtesy an esoteric strike from Sébastien Haller in the second half.

His ball bounced off the pitch to beat goalkeeper Lionel Messi.

The win comes after fellow Group A opponents Nigeria, earlier in the day, saw off South Africa.

The Super Eagles beat the Bafana Bafana 4-2 on penalties after the match ended 1-1 after extra time.

Sunday’s final will be a repeat of the second Group A game in which a William Troost-Ekong penalty separated the two sides.

But with a renewed spirit, the Ivorians are tipped to equal the Nigerians on the trophies won in this competition.

The Super Eagles will, however, have other ideas as they seek a fourth continental title to draw parity with Ghana on the chart.
