The Black Stars are on the verge of missing out on the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations after going 2-0 down to Sudan on Tuesday.

It was Matchday 4 of the qualifiers in Group F as Ghana played Sudan at the Martyrs of February Stadium in Benghazi, Libya.

The Black Stars dominated play in the first half but failed to convert the chances that came their way.

Goalkeeper Lawrence Ati-Zigi was also forced to make some saves to keep his side in the game.

But two second-half goals by the Falcons of Jediane consigned the Black Stars to a delicate position in the qualifiers.

After an hour of play at Benina, Ahmed Mahmoud emerged from the left flank to hit the ball into the net after Auxerre defender Gideon Mensah managed to scoop out a goal-bound ball.

It was confusion between Ati-Zigi and Alidu Seidu, who had guarded a ball for his goalkeeper.

But the Sudan pressure saw the ball roll past the Ghanaian goalkeeper, forcing Mensah to run to save a bad situation.

Unfortunately, the ball was smahed home by Mahmoud for the opener.

Within two minutes, the Sudanese attack was at it again with Mohamed Abdelrahman going in front of Mohammed Salisu.

The big Monaco defender failed to dispossess the Al Hilal striker of the ball, putting him through to beat Ati-Zigi.

Another chance, following a hamstring to Salisu, saw the Sudanese hit the ball wide.

Black Stars coach Otto Addo threw on more attackers including Leicester duo Jordan Ayew and Abdul Fatawu Issahaku but they all failed to make it count.

The results see no positional change but Sudan get three more points to close the gap with leaders Angola, who will later play Niger.

The qualifiers will wrap up in November with Ghana hosting Niger and going to Luanda to engage Angola, who are all but qualified for Morocco 2025.
