A police officer has reportedly lost a limb amid renewed violent clashes linked to the ongoing Gomoa–Efutu land dispute, raising fresh concerns about the escalating security situation in the area.
The latest development follows reports of a deadly confrontation on September 1 between residents of Gomoa and Efutu, which reportedly claimed the lives of three people and left several others injured.
In response to the violence, the Inspector-General of Police reportedly deployed additional security personnel to the area to restore calm and maintain peace.
However, reports emerging on September 2 suggest that tensions remain high. According to Nana Yaw Asare, an on-site reporter for Onua Maakye, a police officer sustained severe injuries during the ongoing clashes and subsequently had a limb amputated.
The incident has heightened concerns among residents, observers and peace advocates, who are calling for urgent and decisive measures to de-escalate tensions and prevent further loss of life and injuries.
Authorities are yet to provide a comprehensive update on the latest incident, while efforts to restore lasting peace in the affected communities are expected to continue.
