Ghana’s Mary Boakye made a surprise qualification to the final of the women’s 100m in the ongoing African Games.

With a time of 11.64s, Mary Boakye became the only Ghanaian to make it to the women’s 100m final.

Hor Halutie, who was highly tipped to make it, came 4th in her semi-final race, clocking 11.74s, about 0.05s slower than her time in the heats.

Benedicta Kwartemaa, who made it to the semi-final as one of the fastest 4th-placed finishers, bowed out with her 11.92s.

The final is scheduled for Tuesday, March 19.

The line-up will have the likes of Nigeria’s Justina Eyakpobeyan and Olayinka Olajide, Congo’s Ngoye Akamabi Natacha, Gambia’s Gina Bittaye, Madagascar’s Claudine Njarasoa as well as Ghana’s Mary Boakye.

In the men’s final, Ghana’s Benjamin Kwaku Azamati and Barnabas Agglerh made it winning their semi-final races in 10.41s and 10.42s respectively.
