The Central Regional Minister, Ekow Payin Okyere Aduamoah, has today, Saturday, March 1, 2025, joined the Agona West Municipal Assembly in a clean-up exercise at Agona Swedru in the Central region, as part of the launch of the Regional Sanitation Day.

The exercise aimed to promote a clean environment and also eradicate the cholera outbreak in the country.

The Agona West municipality is among the areas in the Central region with high cholera cases due to filth in the municipality.

Speaking with Onua News on the sidelines of the launch, Ekow Payin Okyere Aduamoah expressed disappointment at the low turnout and urged the assembly to establish by-laws to address such attitudes.

He emphasised the importance of incorporating sanitation exercises into daily life to maintain a clean environment.

The Minister also announced plans to adjust the timing of the next exercise to accommodate shop owners to also participate without disrupting their business operations.

By doing so, the organizers hope to increase participation and foster a cleaner environment to curb the cholera outbreak in the Region.

Nana Kweku Essiani V, the Regent of Agona Swedru, expressed gratitude to the Central Regional Minister and his team for joining the sanitation exercise with Nananom. It’s great to see community leaders coming together to promote cleanliness.

He has pledged to summon shop owners who litter the environment and punish them accordingly to serve as a deterrent to others and promote a cleaner environment in Agona Swedru.
