A victim of the Nuaso Old Town-Military clash has left the St. Martin De Porres Hospital to seek further treatment from a herbalist.

His relatives and some residents feared he would be amputated.

The Hospital Administrator, Emmanuel Bosompem, tells Onuaonline they had to release him after seeking his consent and upon threats by residents who had mobbed up at the ward to take him away.

“They left two days ago. The community people came to the ward threatening us to release him. That they have a herbalist who can work on him. So we sought concern from him and released him, he is a young adult,” he disclosed.

He added “maybe they had fears we may refer him for amputation, we cannot tell. We had already taken him to the theatre to work on him.”

Three of the victims who are still on admission are in stable condition. One has been referred to the Koforidua Central Hospital.

Eight victims were brought to the St Martin’s De Porres Hospital after Monday’s violent clash between residents of Nuaso Old Town and the Military assisting ECG in the prepaid metre installation exercise.

A first misunderstanding resulted in alleged flogging of residents by the military.

A second incident in which the military returned to the community to cut off transformers that connected electricity to the Nuaso Old Town community resulted in resistance and alleged gunshots.

Some residents alleged the gunshots that were fired hit their relatives.

The Hospital Administrator, Emmanuel Bosompem, on Tuesday said, they did not remove live bullets from the wounds and cannot readily confirm they are gunshot wounds.
