The Ghana Freedom Party (GFP) has submitted the then running mate to its founder, Akua Donkor, to the Electoral Commission (EC) as replacement for the late flag bearer.

Philip Appiah Kubi, also known as ‘Roman Fada’, and a media personality, was running to Akua Donkor until her demise on October 28, 2024.

Speaking on Onua FM’s afternoon current affairs show, Asɛm Bɛn Ni?, on Tuesday, November 05, 2024, National Organiser of GFP, Richard Botchway, tells Captain Smart that the EC has accepted their candidate and look forward to getting Ghanaians’ support on December 07 to claim victory.

He also commended the Electoral Commission for observing a minute silence for the late founder of the party during their meeting with the EC on Tuesday, November 05.

“We’ve submitted Akua Donkor’s replacement to the EC and the EC has accepted the documents just about 10 minutes ago,” he stated.

“Let me applaud the EC because prior to the commencement of the meeting, they made us stand to observe a minute silence for our mother, Akua Donkor. I want to use this opportunity to commend the EC. We really appreciate their gesture which indicates the love they had for our mother. They believe they worked with her and deserved to be honoured. We are still occupying our third position,” he added.

When asked the name of the person they submitted to the EC, he mentioned “Philip…” and his line dropped.
