President Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has commissioned the new state-of-the-art headquarters for the Bank of Ghana (BoG) in Accra.

The edifice is meant to enhance operations of the Bank and its service delivery.

The commissioning of the building Wednesday, November 20, 2024, was graced with officials of government, Bank of Ghana executives, and prominent figures from Ghana’s financial sector.

President Akufo-Addo, addressing the gathering emphasised the importance of the new facility which aims to modernise the nation’s financial infrastructure.

The President also lauded the Bank of Ghana for its commitment and innovation in its operations.

“This new headquarters will serve as the new command centre for the bank’s operations. Fostering innovation, collaboration and excellence in its service to the nation.

“It will also reinforce the bank’s capacity for advance critical financial sector reforms, enhance regulatory frameworks and improve the investment climate for both domestic and international stakeholders,” he stated.

The facility is expected to strengthen the Central Bank’s capacity to regulate and oversee Ghana’s financial system effectively.

It also represents the government’s broader agenda to promote economic stability and create an enabling environment for growth in the financial sector.

A boost to financial sector modernization

The new headquarters comes as part of the Bank of Ghana’s strategy to keep pace with advancements in financial management and governance.

With enhanced facilities, it is expected to improve policy formulation, monetary regulation, and service delivery to the financial community.

This project underscores Ghana’s ongoing efforts to position itself as a financial hub in the region, while ensuring the country’s financial system remains robust and adaptive to global economic trends.
