Host of Maakye on Onua TV, Blessed Godsbrain Smart, has said the investigations being undertaken by the Special Prosecutor on Akonta Mining will not yield any results.
According to Captain Smart, the President, Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, will “clear” Wontumi notwithstanding the outcome of the research.
Captain Smart says President Akufo-Addo is a poodle of the Ashanti Regional Chairman, Bernard Antwi Bosiako, aka Wontumi as bragged by Wontumi himself some time ago.
The regional chairman had said he supported the president during his campaign and has him “in his pocket”, the reason nobody can stop him from doing illegal mining otherwise known as galamsey.
The Special Prosecutor, Kissi Agyebeng has said that his outfit has started investigating some public officials Boer their alleged involvement in galamsey.
The investigation according to a release issued Monday, October 10 will target officials of the dissolved Inter-Ministerial Committee on Illegal Mining (IMCIM), the Ministry of Lands and the Forestry Commission.
The excavators and their management, the machinery and gold nuggets that were seized during the work of the IMCIM will be the focus of the OSP.
Charles Bissue during his tenure as Secretary for the IMCIM was accused of using public office to enrich himself according to a TigerEye Pi documentary which implicated him.
Chairman Wontumi who owns Akonta Mining Limited would also be investigated according to the release.
“The investigation further targets the activities of Akonta Mining Limited and other companies; nationals of foreign countries allegedly involved in illegal mining, and allegations of corruption and corruption-related offences against some Municipal and District Chief Executives and political party officials,” the press release added.
