Fenerbahce defender Alexander Djiku will not take part in the Black Stars’ next two qualifiers after being ruled out due to injury.
Djiku picked an injury in Fenerbahce’s 3-0 win over Alanyaspor in the Turkish Super Lig on Friday.
He had to be substituted in the 61st minute in what was suspected to be a thigh injury.
According to the Ghana Football Association (GFA), initial scans have revealed that Djiku picked up a Grade One strain in the front part of his right thigh (Quadriceps) and would need about 10-14 days to recover, technically making him unavailable for the qualifiers against Angola and Niger.
He was named in coach Otto Addo’s 23-man squad for the two games.
Djiku made his Ghana debut in October 2020 and has gone on to play 31 times for the Black Stars.
