Black Stars Head Coach Otto Addo has named a 23-man squad for the upcoming Unity Cup in London.
A number of players are making a return to the squad while key absentees also characterise the list.
Among the returnees are Felix Afena Gyan of Juventus Next Gen, Majeed Ashimeru of Anderlecht and Sunderland’s Abdul Salis Samed, who over the weekend helped the Black Cats’ promotion into the English Premier League after an eight-year absence.
The key absentees include Arsenal’s Thomas Partey, West Ham United’s Mohammed Kudus and Fenerbahce’s Alexander Djiku.
Black Satellites and Barcelona Atlètic playmaker Abdul Aziz Issah has received a maiden call-up into the senior national men’s soccer team.
The left-footed attacker was part of the Black Satellites team that exited the quarter-finals of the 2025 U-20 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON). He was named the Man of the Match in the game against Central African Republic.
Former West Ham United goalkeeper Joseph Tetteh Anang, who currently plays for St. Patrick’s Athletic, has also received a maiden call-up.
Aaron Essel of North Texas SC, Mohammed Gaddafi Fuseini of Union Saint-Gilloise and Caleb Yirenkyi of FC Nordsjælland are among the debut call-ups.
Four locally-based players travelled over the weekend for the game. They are Hearts of Oak’s Benjamin Asare, Nations FC’s Razak Simpson, Medeama SC’s Mamudu Kamaradini and Asante Kotoko’s Kwame Opoku.
