Legendary Jamaican music producer and sound engineer, Clive Hunt has revealed that he couldn’t continue to work with African Reggae icon Alpha Blondy because the latter didn’t want him to work with any other African artist.

According to Clive the Ivorian reggae icon doesn’t want him to work with other Africans apart from him.

“I was asked to do some work with Tiken Jah Fakoly and I said no. I told my agent that I don’t want to do it because Alpha doesn’t want me to.

Anyway Tiken Jah people contacted me later to make a recommendation for them, so I recommended the Tuff Gong Studio where the guys there were trained by me. Later, when Tiken Jah’s album came out, they credited me by saying special thanks to Clive Hunt and Alpha saw that and he was very angry” he disclosed.

Clive told Blakk Rasta in an interview on the 3FM Urban Blend Show that his relationship with Alpha goes way back to when Blondy was a student in the United States and was just known as Seidu Konney.

“I knew Alpha Blondy a long time ago as Seidu Konnney when he was a student at Columbia University.

I was the first to take him to a recording studio; he hadn’t seen one. I can tell you for sure. So, I was in his life” he replied to Blakk Rasta when he asked if he was the first to record Alpha Blondy.

According to Clive, he feels blessed to be a part of the success journey of Alpha Blondy and wish they were still working together.

“I heard his last release a month ago with Capleton. It’s good but he should have called me, I would have fixed the music and sent it back to him. This is my personal ego. I love him and I am happy for what he has done, and I look forward to working with other artists from Africa” Hunt hinted.
