Presidential Staffer, Rosemond Obeng, has weighed in on Richard Jakpa’s petition to the Criminal Investigations Department (CID) of the Ghana Police Service to investigate former Attorney General Godfred Yeboah Dame.
Jakpa, accused in an ambulance procurement trial alongside Finance Minister Dr. Cassiel Ato Baah Forson, alleges Dame attempted to manipulate his testimony to incriminate Ato Forson.
In a petition dated Tuesday, September 23, 2025, Jakpa accused Dame of trying to coerce him into testifying in a particular way “so as to dishonestly, wickedly and without an iota of conscience implicate Dr. Ato Forson and to also lie to the court by procuring a false excuse duty which constitutes a crime (Fabrication of evidence).”
According to Obeng, the petition seeks to serve the interest of Dame, arguing that a transparent investigation would clear his name if he’s innocent.
Speaking on TV3’s BigIssue segment on the NewDay morning show Thursday, September 25, 2025, she disclosed that she was making plans to take on the matter, considering the seriousness of the allegations and their potential impact on Ghana’s jurisprudence.

“I was in discussion with my lawyers to actually take on this case because the Office of the Attorney-General is a very high office and so if the legal process can be manipulated with this level of impunity, is our judiciary safe?”she questioned.
She emphasised the need for transparent investigations, saying the probe will serve Godfred Dame’s interest if he’s able to prove his innocence.
“And it’s even in the interest of the former Attorney-General because he could be clean.”
Obeng further noted that Dame’s claims of the tape being doctored should be put to the test through investigation.
“If you’re vindicated, it helps your case. How would he live with his conscience knowing that he has to carry this burden, when majority of Ghanaians think he is an obstacle to the law. So it is going to help both sides.”
