The Aprede – Kwamante – Somanya road has been temporarily closed down by the Okere Distict Security Committee (DISEC).
The DISEC exaplains the closure has become necessary due to the frequent fatal accidents happening on the road.
Head of DISEC, Daniel Kenneth signed a release to that effect.
“The general public and motorist who ply the Aprede- Kwamante – Somanya road are being informed of the temporally closure of the road by the District Security Committee effective October 7, 2022.
He advised motorist to use the Adukrom Asseseaso -Trom Junction road.
“Motorist travelling to Somanya and beyound are to use the Adukrom – Aseseaso – Trom Junction road whilst the District collaborates with Feeder Roads and National Road Safety Commision to improve the safety of the road,” the release said.
Motorists had to use the Aprerede – Somanya road due to the poor nature of the Koforidua – Nkurakan road and construction works on the Aseeseaso – Adukrom road.
In a space of weeks, several lives have been lost due to accident.
The recent accident are the ones involving staff and student of Winneba University College of Education who were on an educational tour and some mourners who were enroute to Aflao.
